I gladly recommend Auto Specnics for their dedication and skill. They managed to bring my Renault Clio’s third brake light back to life after a tiny pin broke off, something I thought would never work again. Jacques went even further, fixing the driver’s seat latch that had stopped flipping forward and repairing the stuck seat rail. He lifted the car, removed the seat, and restored the rail without any extra parts—true commitment to helping a customer.

My Renault Clio 1.6 Dynamic (2005 model) alerted me via the onboard computer that the vehicle was low on oil. As a result, I needed to visit the nearest Renault dealership to obtain the correct oil. Renault Hatfield was the closest, and I subsequently booked the vehicle in for a sump replacement. After performing a health check, Renault Hatfield advised that the tie rod ends required replacement and that the right front CV boot needed reconditioning. I proceeded with these repairs, which came at significant cost and effectively exhausted my available funds. Upon collecting my vehicle, the service manager, Michelle van Staden, informed me that the car had been taken for wheel alignment. During this process, the alignment technician noted that the steering wheel appeared to be upside down. I was told that this issue was likely due to a steering rack that had been reconditioned approximately four years prior. However, when I got into the vehicle, I immediately noticed that the steering wheel position obstructed my view of the dashboard, including the speedometer and onboard computer display. Had the steering wheel been in this position beforehand, I would not have been able to see the original oil warning that prompted my visit. I raised this concern with the service manager, but was informed that Renault Hatfield would not accept responsibility, as they had not carried out the steering rack reconditioning. I then took the vehicle to another Renault dealership to address the upside down steering wheel. The car remained there for three weeks, after which I was advised that it required a new steering rack (approximately R10,000) and a new steering column (approximately R20,000). Additionally, the technician from Renault Hatfield, Dirkie, was also contacted. He stated that the steering wheel was "dead straight" upon leaving their premises, and that the vehicle passed their quality inspection. After receiving no resolution from Renault Care, I sought assistance from Jacques at Auto Specnics. Within a single day, Jacques identified the issue, dismantled the suspension, and successfully realigned the existing steering rack and steering column -without the need for costly replacements. Based on this experience, I can wholeheartedly recommend Auto Specnics for their exceptional Renault workmanship, technical expertise, and practical experience.
