************* dealer
My dealings with Auto Platinum has been highly disappointing, compromising on the quality and safety of the vehicle sold to me in order to save cost for increased profitability.
120k Km service was performed and stamped as if a full-service was done but in actual fact, only an oil change was performed. The dealer convinced the service center to stamp with an RMI stamp for a full service on 120 000km but only an oil change was performed. This means no other inspections were carried out, causing a catastrophic brake failure within the first week of driving the newly bought vehicle (3.5 years old with 120k KM). The location of the brake failure at least did not cause an accident it could have been much worse with injury or even loss of life. Workmanship of Auto Platinum and subcontractors is questionable.
Several other things were wrong with this vehicle that should have been inspected and corrected before they sold it. (fog lights missing holders and globs, headlight leaking, climate control not working, missing bolts all over…) They leave the repairs for the client to request, If the client does not pick up the issues or know any better, then it is cost-saving for the dealer. I had to get 3 rd parties to do inspections to identify some of the problems on the vehicle (Some I was able to easily identify myself).
The vehicle was in a prior accident and the dealer till today does not confirm or deny. But it clearly was. They attempted repair but it is still visible and suspension issues are prominent. With the last repair they did, they needed to inspect a bearing noise and cracking noise from the front suspension (On the side where the accident occurred), they made claims that they tested everything at various speeds, but the GPS tracker showed otherwise. I view this as being dishonest.
I requested cancellation but the dealer refuses to do so because they are willing to do repairs (This puts the bank and the Ombudsman on their side). Now I sit with a vehicle that has been in an accident and still showing problems form the accident and potentially will show more in the future.
They are claiming that I can bring the vehicle back for repair but I can not trust that the repairs are carried is up to standard after all that has taken place. So the last repairs were done by a trusted service center that I arranged and more suspension problems picked up (I have requested auto platinum to inspect sagging and noise on the suspension, but work was never carried out).
I had to carry this cost to get the vehicle in a safe state for continued long-term use.
Correction, I am Mr. M Pretorius and not Mr. Van Niekerk.
My GPS tracking logs are accurate and I can see the vehicle was driven around 10 km, but never faster than 80km/h after it was specially mentioned that the bearing noise is above a 100km/h. You are welcome to contact me for the detailed GPS tracking information (i mailed about this as well but never got a response).
Regarding Decra, I really encourage the dealership to do their home work on what all the thing Decra is able to pick up as it was more cosmetic and basic technical as you can see from the report. Furthermore, the dealership could investigate using Decar on their vehicles before selling them as this could have avoided the brakes failure. The decra inspection was my own initiative and funded by myself, so was another service center inspection and quote and also the last repair to the suspension and remaing of the full service (v belts, air con filter, remaining missing bolts... invoicecan be shared).
Unfortunately we will never agree as from auto Platinum's perspective, alot was done after the sale and from my opinion all thes and more were supposed to be done before the sale. I as the client got the raw end of the deal.
My outcome of this review is to attempt to get auto Platinum to do a retrospective on a sale where the client is regretting dealings with auto Platinum. (Doesn't seem like this is likely after the reply I received). Secondly i want to share my story so that who ever reads this review can make an informed decision when buying a vehicle. It is not only a vehicle sale but Life's are at stake.
