Poor customer service and lack of professionalism!

I bought a car from them in March 2025, in September within 6 months my radiator was leaking, I couldn’t drive even 20mins without the car signalling me to refill my water/coolant. I went to them on the 1st of October to tell them that they sold me a car with a leaking radiator. Mind you when we got there they didn’t want to speak directly to us, and when they did they were so rude, the guy told us it’s not their fault and we can even take the matter to court if we want.

They did not even ask to see the car or check the problem. Even when my car got damaged within the 6months that warrants me consumer protection to return the car to the dealership they refused to help me, until we had to tell them we will take the matter to social media. When we were about to leave the owner came and that’s when he said I should leave my car he will take it to his mechanic and he can offer to pay half of the bill to fix the car.

So the agreement was that he goes and takes my car to ‘silverton radiator’ to replace the radiator then sends me the invoice so I can pay half and collect my car the next day. I strictly mentioned to him that I want a new radiator, I don’t want it to be patched. 2hrs later he calls me and tells me that to get a new radiator it’s going to cost me R10k and that we can patch it instead for R4k and he that the reason for the leaking radiator is that I had bumped my car in the front. Mind you this is all a lie!.

Bear in mind before I came to the dealership I went to a car technician to check out the car and he confirmed that the radiator was old and leaking. And he also shared with me the estimate amount to get a new radiator which he said it was around R1800-R3000.

It was at this point I knew that this guy was lying and taking advantage the fact that I’m a new driver and he thought I was dumb. He didn’t even send the invoice. I told him can we use another car technician to get a different quote and compare, he refused. I told him to stop everything I will fix my car for myself, because clearly he doesn’t want to help me.

When I went to Silverton Radiator guess what they told me, they said that to get a new radiator is R2800 and for their labour it will cost R3200. Now that’s not even close to R10000 in total. I even took a video of the guy saying this and he confessed that they told him to quote me a higher price.

This guy his name is Derick Smith not only **** to me about the price of the radiator, he tried to manipulate my situation and wanted me to pay 100% of the bill without me knowing while making himself look like ‘the good guy trying to help me’, on top of that he tried to put the blame on me saying that reason radiator was leaking was because I bumped my car in the front which was confirmed in the video I took that it was not true because the guy at silverton radiator said he checked the car and the bump was no where close to the radiator. I thank God I caught on his cunning behaviour before it was too late.

Please Buy your car at this dealership at your own risk, i fixed my own car, got my new radiator for R1800 but now i have to replace the break pads, problems within less than a year, I regret buying from them because even when I bought my car, when I got there the ‘management’ didn’t even interact with me or my family to welcome or congratulate me as their client. I only spoke to the salesman that was helping me purchase my car. Their customer service is extremely poor.

We value all feedback from our customers and would like to address the matters you raised regarding the vehicle you purchased in February 2025.

Regarding the issue with the radiator, please note that all vehicles sold by our dealership are inspected prior to delivery to ensure they are in good working condition. In your case, the vehicle was sold as a pre-owned vehicle, and the terms provided at the time of sale were explained to you. According to our records, the vehicle was delivered in working order and no mechanical issues were reported during the initial period of ownership.

When you returned in October 2025—approximately seven months after the purchase—our management engaged with you to discuss the radiator problem. Although the cause of the issue could not be confirmed as a pre-existing defect, the owner still offered, in good faith, to assist by covering 50% of the repair costs. The offer was made purely as a gesture of goodwill, not as an admission of liability

As you have acknowledged, you had “bumped” the front of your vehicle into another vehicle's towbar.  It is a pity that we cannot post pictures of this damage to your vehicle on this platform. We cannot be held liable for repairs to a vehicle that the client has damaged. We were, however, prepared to assist you and yet you then decided that you were not happy and threatened and shouted at the owner of the dealership.

We note that you declined the repair arrangement and chose to handle the repairs independently. We respect your decision, and we are glad that you were able to resolve the issue through your own service provider.

We however cannot accept that any blame be shifted to the company.
