Be careful - Substandard vehicle sold and not willing to take any consequences
Be Careful - Faulty Vehicle Sold
I purchased a Ford EcoSport from this dealership in December 2025 with approximately 77,000 km on the odometer. After only three months of driving the vehicle, it became clear that something was seriously wrong.
I took the vehicle to a registered workshop, where I was informed that both the clutch and brakes were severely worn. Given the very short distances I had driven during those three months, there is no reasonable way I could have caused that level of wear and tear.
I contacted the dealership, and they agreed to replace the clutch, but only through the warranty that I pay for monthly. While I appreciated their assistance, I expressed my concern about how a vehicle sold in this condition could have passed any inspection process. They refused to replace the worn brakes.
Approximately one month after the clutch replacement, the vehicle suddenly would not engage gears. The dealership collected the vehicle and diagnosed the problem as a faulty master cylinder. Once again, the repairs were processed through my warranty, which I pay for myself.
Just two days after the vehicle was returned, the same problem occurred. The vehicle was collected again, repaired, and returned three days later.
Now, only three weeks later, I am experiencing exactly the same issue. The vehicle once again refuses to go into gear. This time, I have been told that the problem is mine to deal with and that I must sort it out myself.
Since April 2026, I have repeatedly expressed that I no longer trust this vehicle. As a woman who often drives alone in the evenings, on highways, and during early morning commutes through the city, reliability and safety are extremely important to me. Unfortunately, my concerns have not been taken seriously.
The dealership offered me R160,000 for the vehicle (effectively around R150,000 after bank settlement costs) despite me purchasing it for R200,000 in December 2025. This offer was only available if I purchased another vehicle from them. However, they do not have any vehicles within my budget or that meet my requirements. Furthermore, the vehicles I have shown interest in are priced significantly higher, leaving me to absorb the financial loss regardless.
I believe a vehicle sold at R200,000 should not experience repeated major mechanical failures within a few months of purchase. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of accountability and the ongoing safety concerns, and I hope this review serves as a warning to prospective buyers.
I am very disappointed as I specially went to them to buy a car as they were friends with a good friend of mine so I thought I could trust them.
You drove the vehicle nearly 13000km and lost trust in the car due to a clutch problem. Like you said 3 months after the purchase you notified us about the clutch, we collected the car and supp**** you with a loan car. On inspection it was found the the clutch was burned. Thus you driving with your foot on the clutch with clear evidence the warranty declined the work because of driver negligence. I intervened and requested the warranty to pay an xgracia to cover the cost in full. You notified us of another problem , yet again we send a qualified ford mechanic to your house, because you notified us the car does not want to go into gears. On arrival the mechanic climbed into your car, started and drove to the dealership without any concerns or problems. The workshop manager drove the car a few days also without problems. Your main concern is that you lost trust in the car, BUT expect the dealership to pay the same money now after 8 months and nearly 15000km as what you paid for the car and unfortunatly you dont understand how it works. But by saying that, I said that we will trade the car in for R160000 taken into account the 8 months depreciation and mileage that you have driven, but yet again cant understand that and trying to make us out as the guilty party. We are sorry you feel this way but unfortunetly we are not the guilty party in this situation nor the type of people you are making us out to be. Your threats towards us have resulted in us not actually wanting to help no more.
