Conned out of our deposit on a vehicle

We had a very bad experience with the people at Auto Champion Motors. We found a 2014 Hyundai IX35 on cars.co.za for R160k and started corresponding with the dealership. The sales lady was very unprofessional and couldn't speak proper english. We negotiated a price of R150k only for it to be confirmed by management via email that we couldn't get the R10k discount as promised by the sales lady. After a fuss we managed to get the price down to R155k but we decided to cancel the deal. We were later phoned back to say we could get the vehicle for R150k and that we needed to put down a R20k deposit to secure the vehicle. We were conned into putting down a deposit on a vehicle after discussing the condition of the vehicle and seeing photos. We paid a deposit, flew to JHB from PE and on the viewing of the vehicle we deciding not to take the vehicle. The vehicle was in an extremely poor condition with dents and scratches all over the body. The interior was damaged and the engine was very dirty. Overall the vehicle was not described accurately but we were forced to pay a deposit before viewing. The sales lady said that we would get a 25% refund on our deposit if we decided against taking the vehicle but when we asked for our deposit back a very rude and arrogant Nigerian said that we must go to the police and that we can only get our deposit back if they sell the vehicle. After an argument he said he won't pay us a cent back. We refused to leave without our money back and after some time they paid 50% of our deposit back to us. We feel that we would never of agreed to 50%. We were forced to accept it as we were stuck there without transport, all our luggage and it was in a very dangerous area in JHB CBD. We had already been ******. The experience has left us with a fear to deal with out of town dealerships in order to buy our dream car. These people are *******!! Never again will we trust a used car dealership and pay a deposit on a vehicle
