I purchased my vehicle end of June/01 of July last year (2016) through Shane. I specifically asked if the vehicle was accident free to which he answered yes, the only defect to the car I was told it’s a light scratch on the driver side. A week later the side mirrors are not working and I have to take the car in for fixing. I then requested the service history book to which I got in October as I was now worried about the car. 5 months into me having the car, the car died on me giving me a drive train error on the 22nd of December. It was then towed to Best auto in Rustenburg. They advised that the engine died and they would replace it.
January 2017 I got the car back, the car then has a smell of dust/smoke, took it in to Northcliff auto, they said it might be that the air filters are dusty which was not the case because they replaced them however the smell was still there. I took it back, came back but the smell was still there, the smell comes up after the car has warmed up. I decided to let it go. July 2017, the car now has Drivetrain again, it’s now been at Cedar Isle Auto for two weeks. Diagnostics indicated problem with the cylinders, after they worked on that then car still had fault, they not said injectors, checked the injectors. I don’t even know what all this is, car still has fault. I then checked on the service history, these are the things that were changed a few times there prior to me purchasing the vehicle.
I then proceeded to call BMW SA as I feel that I was **********, because a car can’t have so many problems in just a year of buying it regardless of it being pre-owned and I would think BMW would sell cars that are to a satisfactory. BMW SA then tells me that the car was in an accident that costs R155k for repairs at Tygervally, I did not know of this. Was I informed? No. Again there were car parts were bought with its VIN at Tygervally. I admit I didn’t read the contract to the core, I initialized and sent to Shane as he was in a hurry to go to his dad’s funeral, I read the contract yesterday after the news that I heard of the accident. Alright I then see a part that says “Client was informed that the car was repaired in 2013. No Structural damage”. I was never informed of the huge damage, the accident, the parts that were changed, I was informed of the scratch on the door to which it was “replaced” not fixed but then to my surprise I still found the scratch. Did I ask if the car had been in an accident? Yes and the answer was “no” how was I now informed of this R155k accident. I understand that I didn’t thoroughly read the contract to see those things, well I did but because I was told of the door I assumed that “repair/replace” was for the door.
Please assist with this as I feel that I was ****** to make a sale, and sold a car that has so many problems that now needs to come out of my own pocket to fix, but that were well known by the dealer and sales person but I, as the buyer was not informed so that I can make an informed decision knowing all the faults. If I knew that this is voetstoots I would have never purchased the car, that is why I asked “Is the car accident free?”
