Wear and tear fridge cover conclusion

I recently claimed because my fridge suddenly stop cooling. Firstly the insurance after several day asked me to find a technician since their was not available and far. After days of struggling since it was Dec festivities I went back to them telling them I don't have anyone. They sent me t&c's explaining how it was my responsibility to supply the report. So I stay the entire festive without a fridge or any progress from them .. It has been more than 15 days and they sent someone to check the fridge. This guy explained to me that there might be a leakage but he cannot see where so he will need to check it so he had no conclusion on the issue. Today the insurance called me to tell me that the issue with my fr idge is wear and tear it is not covered by insurance I must replace the gas bottle fridge should work fine. My thing is if it doesn't what is thus insurance for if thus is not sudden...
