Took my money for nine months despite cancellation
I cancelled my vehicle insurance policy in writing - as required, in January 2015. Despite this, Auto and General ( Badger insurance ) continued taking their insurance premiums from my bank account, MONTHLY FOR MORE THAN EIGHT MONTHS- yet I had been insured with another company already. I followed up continuously, with no response. Then, being at wits' end by September 2015, I copied the office of the ombudsman for short term insurance into my e-mail to them and suddenly I received a response from Auto and General. They called immediately, cancelled my insurance policy and promised to refund the insurance premiums that they debited from my account, which were not lawful because my insurance had been cancelled in writing eight months earlier. My insurance was cancelled on September 10th 2015, and the refund was promised to occur within ten days of this date. I never received the refund and enquired about this via email and telephonically to no avail. Thisgives me the impression that they promised me cancellation and refund only so that I would inform the ombudsman for shortterm insurance that the issue was resolved. Unacceptable. I do not recommend this company to others.
