POPI Act Contravension
I would like to launch an official complaint against your Legal department for giving a 3rd party Promoter my personal information without my consent.
OUTsurance is running a promotion where, if they can't beat someone's insurance, they pay R500. They contacted me to do a quote and could not beat my insurance.
They then contacted Auto & General legal department to get my policy documents, in which Auto & General obliged, which totally contavenes the POPI Act, especially since I'm not an OUTsurance Client and therefore not claiming an incident with them. I just did a quote with them.
Auto & General's legal department need to explain on what legal basis where they authorised to give a 3rd party my personal information in relation to 3rd Party Promotions? I'm not OUTsurance client, therefore I am not claiming for an incident. I participated in their promotion. Nothing more, nothing less.
Why are you giving Promoters my personal information?
