Online quote cheaper than current insurance

Did a random quote online to check for insurance. found it to be R150 cheaper per month then what I am currently paying. Telephone consultant informed me that they cant beat the quote... due to me being with them for less than a year (did a brand swop within the auto&general group). plus he says my accident claim played a big part in it (which claimed 100% back from third parties insurance - so my claim value is R0). don't understand the reason as he also told me that my current premium is according to their system too low. meaning a massive increase in the new year. other thing which baffles me is that he said if I was insured longer than 1 year then he could have given me a quote of about R453???? NEED SOME CLARITY HERE.
