The base plate and mechanism of a very small mechanical Rotary gold watch detached itself and I was left wearing just the bracelet and upper casing with the glass intact. We have all risks but no item is specified. The response from Auto and General was excellent, but they did misinterpret the value of the watch as Rotary as far as I know do not make mechanical watches anymore. They appear to stick to the cheaper battery operated ones. The watch that was lost is basically irreplaceable, Chronos who valued it used to service it and therefore were in the best position to value it. The nearest matching watch would be a Geneieve which costs at least R25000. I am not complaining at all and would give Tasneem Bester 10 out of 10 for effort, but would recommend that he must not rely on the internet to value an old mechanical gold watch.
