Increase of household value with no consent
I managed to call the Badger Administration call centre today to query an increase in my monthly premiums on household versus vehicle insurance - I did so as the letter stating the Jan 2016 increase in the monthly premium was not clear in terms of where the increase was effective . During the conversation with the call centre agent I was informed that the underwriter , Auto and General , took it upon themselves to increase my household contents value by 20% without my consent ( from 500 K to 605K ) , resulting in a monthly premium increase of over R200 extra. <br> <br> This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE - who gives you the right to increase the value of my household contents without my consent ? No phone call, no nothing !

We have noted that your policy underwent its annual review which resulted in a premium increase. As part of the increase we automatically increase the insured value of your home contents in an attempt to avoid underinsurance. In our review letter we invite customers to contact us should they wish to discuss the increase.
We can however confirm that you we were in contact with your broker and that we were able to offer you a discounted premium.
