Incompetence of highest degree
In Nov 2020 a tree fell on my house damaging the exterior wall, roof, ceiling, security gate and sliding door. My claim was approved and work started as soon as access was paid. When they painted the exterior wall the paint wasn't the correct shade of Grey as the rest of the house as well as the paint used on window frames differed. I raised my concerns with them, after a few arguments they came and changed the paint to the correct color. However they only did a single qoute of paint when I raised the concern of the paint I was told to wait for the paint to dry first, after drying up it would be fine. Once this job was done I realized that the sliding door was also affected by the tree and wasn't operable. I contacted Auto and General and advised them. They sent an assessor to evaluate again and they made new arrangements to come fix the sliding door.. A few weeks went by before they pitched, had to constantly call them. Eventually in December they pulled through to fix the sliding door. After installing the new sliding door they had to re plaster the same wall they had worked on and re paint again. They re plastered and did a terrible job, the plastering is uneven, and again incorrect paint was used. I raised the issue immediately with them on site and they told me that the rest of the house was painted a long time ago hence the new paint work won't be the same. Please note that at this point the paint they used was the same as on the interior which isn't the shade and the purpose of the paint differs. After arguing the supervisor came to inspect the paint and confirmed it was not the same. Fresh qoute was app****.. Raised the issue with the plastering being uneven and I was told it isn't their job description all they had to do was install the sliding door. For replastering the damaged area they damaged while removing the old sliding door I have to call the office to send out a different team. From beginning to end of this claim I experienced a high level of incompetence, no regard for customer time. It was raining heavily during that time, the assessor recommended that they place a sail to prevent water from getting into the house and creating more damage and he advised that it had to be done urgently. However I had to call auto & general to remind them of this recommendation. Eventually they arrived with the sail. A date was set for when would work start. On the date they did not arrive and they did not communicate their delay or reason for the day. Following day I had to call and find out what was going on. They **** to me and said it was raining in my area. Guess it was raining everywhere in my area except my house. New date and time was rescheduled and on the they they arrived 2hours late with roofing tiles. Layed the tiles on the roof and called it a day. I was surprised cause they just placed the tiles on the roof, didn't use anything to hold it in place should strong winds occur. They told me that they didn't know they had to. The only thing they were told by the office was to layer tiles. I am not a roofing expert however logic dictates that you cannot just layer tiles. Each day when they reported for duty something would be outstanding and they had to leave cause they hadn't brought it along cause they did not know that they would need certain things. Yet they came and an assessment. In Dec 2020 they made a promise to come fix the incorrect paint and plastering on the date they didn't pitch. I followed up with them, and was told 2different stories from Chris and Christa. Christa said their vans had been high jacked Chris said workers were on strike. I requested that they send an email to me committing to a date in January when they reopen. In January 2021 they came indeed. Upon arrival they asked me what was the issue. Had to show them again. One gentleman remained behind and started working. The other one went to get paint. When he got back he started painting the exterior wall, half way through painting the wall he calls me to inform me it is a different shade of Grey as such he's no longer going to paint he'd return the following day. This was around 11am I questioned why he could not go back to the paint shop and return with the correct paint did not get a valid answer. I asked when was the plastering going to be done. I was told builders where still on holiday. Called Auto & General again to update them on what was going on on-site. The people on site submitted old photos from before fixing the sliding door where plastering was correct and the paint was corrected. I requested an email for me to submit my evidence and the agent told me he's looking at photos and mine weren't necessary and from what he's looking at everything was in order. My claim was only for one side of the wall. I requested him to send me an assessor to come and have a look at the plastering done after the sliding door was installed. To date I have not heard from Auto & General. As I type this my exterior wall is half painted with a darker shade of grey on the one side and the other side is the normal Grey. So much for being there for their clients at this unpresidanted time. In 2weeks time they will be deducting their premium and yet they failed me and they continue to do so. Waiting for business hours so I can contact the ombudsman I have been patient. This is unacceptable. They have the audacity to request a person to rate their services after ama nyala. Inconsiderate & ***********
