Auto & General is a ****

I found myself roped into auto & general through the betterlife guise. Had I known, I wouldn't have joined as I had a friend that was left under a mountain of debt by them a few years ago. But Lo and behold, here I was insured with them.

I insured my house; during the rains a few weeks ago we had near flooding in Roodepoort (I am sure you saw the waterfall at Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden). I had damage in my study, one of the bedrooms and the pool; a gentleman came in a week later and said that he was only authorised to inspect the study, which he did. I did not receive any feedback after that, I kept calling and a Nicole Josephs was going to phone me back but this call never came. Eventually a someone finally decided to tell me that the report says the damage was due to wear and tear and not due to the rains; I asked how it is determined that this leak through a wall is due to wear and tear, and the other is not? What are the telltale signs? How does inspecting one point of damage determine the outcome of the other 2 areas that were not inspected? No answers.

Auto & General is nothing short of a **** - just one step above the guys cloning your card at the ATM. Purely looking to milk as much as they can from you every month until you become the wiser when it is time to claim. I failed to learn from the mistakes of others; I suggest that you learn from mine.
