AUTO and General Worst Service (if you can call it that) Ever!!!
Please note that Auto and General, First for Women, Dail Direct and Budget are all the same
Date of accident and vehicle taken to Status Panel beaters, Marburg on instruction of Auto & General
January 23rd 2026 Claim lodged with Auto and General
28th January 2026 Auto & General approves repairs to be done by panel beaters
This claim has taken over one and a half months, and is still not finalised. The last request was set out in an email to Portia Sibiya on 12/3/2026 and that request has not been met. WE are to make a decision whether we accept the write-off proposal or the vehicle-back proposal, and we need the report referred to in that email to enable us to make a decision. Without that report, Auto&General cannot in all fairness expect us to make a reasonable decision that does not prejudice us.
20th February 2026 A check with pane beaters proves no work done at all. Reported this incident to Auto & General.
Subsequent to 20th February Informed by panel beaters that Auto & General wrote the vehicle after a subsequent inspection of damage Received an email from Portia Sibiya of TIHSA (from email ***) not sure of relationship with Auto & General, but she clearly works with Auto&Gneral claims, stating the car is written off (see email dated 6 March 2026 stating the vehicle is written off and setting out the Auto and General settlement offer.
Correspondence subsequent to 6/3/2026 My response to the email of 6/3/2026 sent on 9/3/2026 Auto & General’s responses per Portia Sibiya on 10/3/2026 which did give me satisfactory responses to the central questions on the vehicle damage that I raised in my email of 9/3/2026. My response to the email of 10/3/2026 asked for options available to us in this situation Auto&General’s responded per Portia Sibiya on 12/3/2026 setting out the option to return the car with a salvage penalty. My email of 12/3/2026 requested a report on the valuation of the damage to the vehicle on which the write-off decision was based. Auto & General’s responses per Portia on two occasions (emails on 12/3/2026 and 13/3/2026 suggest that there are difficulties to get this report.
Thank you for taking the time to outline the full timeline and challenges you’ve experienced. We sincerely apologise for the delays, lack of clarity, and difficulty in obtaining the assessment report that you need to make an informed decision on the write‑off proposal. This is not the level of service we aim to provide.
We understand how frustrating it is to wait this long for the necessary documentation, especially after multiple follow‑ups. We will look into your matter and contact you with feedback.
Kind Regards,
The Auto & General Team
