Auto and General Nightmare

I sent in a claim after getting 2 rims and tyres damaged. I also sent them 2 quotes that I got, one was for R12k and the other for R8,8k. I paid for the lower quote myself as I needed a whole new set as those two could no longer be repaired and also for a whole new set of tyres. After a month they come back to tell me that they will only pay half of the lower quote but since my excess kicks in, that means that they won't pay for anything. Excess on tyres and rims that is basically the price of a set of rims? There apparently is only the one excess that they are applying across the board and not per what is being claimed for. I would not recommend doing business with Auto and General when it comes to insurance and the way they structure their payouts. My father had a similar issue and was paid out within a few days from his insurance - R2k for 1 tyre and rim that was damaged. Clearly there are better insurance companies to do business with and right now if you are thinking of joining Auto and General then don't and if you are with them then don't expect quick claim resolution nor a payout from them
