Auto and general and Automagic
hello totally Dissatisfied of how deceiving the assessor and disputes and resolution department is at auto and general . I had an unfortunate incident with my bmw 320i in july this year. The bonnet of the vehicle flipped open and damaged the bonnet and windscreen. i called the claims department and claim was authorised about a week and a half later. i asked if i could send my vehicle to a panel shop of my choice but was refused. On the 14 July 2020, I have received a message on my phone asking me to take my vehicle to automagic in westmead pinetown in Kzn. I together with my son took the vehicle to automagic repair shop. A gentleman by the name Dean attended to us. he completed a checklist on the vehicle whereby he test all lights, electronics and did a complete overall check on the vehicle of which he ticked and both Dean and I signed. all lights were in perfect working order. the only damage to my vehicle was the bonnet, windscreen, hinges and bonnet catches. On 27th July 2020 I was asked to fetch my vehicle. upon inspection, i noticed the bonnet was not allowed to aligned to the fenders nor the bumper. it was about 1.5cm apart. the front headlights which was tested when the vehicle was brought in and worked perfectly, now no longer works. the paintwork was not up to standard. I advised Mr Dean and was advised that we will meet with the assessor mr mark. I met with the assessor mark a few days later. the assessor mark acknowledged all the faults and pointed them out to dean. the vehicle was left at automagic. we were then asked again to collect the vehicle on the 11th of August 2020 again upon inspection we noticed further damage. now the front bumper was badly aligned. front grill now is popped out its position in the bumper. left side of bonnet aligned better but right side still not aligned. we reported this again to the assessor mark. i was finally asked to speak to senior assessor of auto and general mr Haroun Mohamed. Mr Haroun was not listening to my complaint. he had arranged for my vehicle to be taken to bmw to have a diagnosis done. on 11th September 2020 a tow truck arrived to move my vehicle of which i received a message on my phone. I drove to auto magic and found my vehicle lying on the side of the road with the battery flat. the tow truck driver was unable to do any thing. I managed to boost the car and drove it onto the towtruck. i took photos of the vehicle while it was on the tow truck. there were no damages to the left rear of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to bmw supertech panel shop in clairwood on the 11 July. the vehicle was inspected and photos taken by Cheri leigh. I met with mark the assessor at Bmw Panel shop on the 14 September. Mark noted the bad workmanship on the vehicle, he also noted the front bumper was now cracked due to it being stretched as per Mr dean. I asked Mark if I could take the vehicle from bmw instead of it going back to automagic. Mark was in favor of me taking my vehicle but needed clearance from mr haroun Mohamed. we tried calling Haroun, but was unable to get hold of him. my son and i decided to leave, but advised cheri that i will confirm with Mr Haroun and fetch the vehicle later. whilst on our way home, my son and I, i decided to call Haroun. Haroun refused for me to remove my vehicle. he said that the vehicle must go back to automagic and I must pay the excess of R5950. 00 AND sign the clearance certificate. I was upset and told him that i cannot sign the clearance certificate as there is a lot of damage to my vehicle and workmanship was bad. Mr Haroun then advised that if I pay the excess and sign the clean certificate, then he will autorise payment and allow me to take the vehicle to another panel shop, but it will cost me. i was dissapointed about this and then phoned the dispute and resolution and spoke to Mr Louis Meyer. I also sent an email stating my dissapointment regarding me paying the excess to automagic and signing the clearance certificate due to the damage to my lights, bumper and also bad workmanship. Mr Louis said he will get back to me. Mr Haroun was now upset with me for going to the dispute and resolution. I contacted mr Meyer on several occasions. I literally begged him to allow me to move my vehicle from automagic, i also told him that they might cause further damage to my vehicle whilst still at the premises of automagic, but yet again I was refused. i was advised bybmr meyer that nothing will hapoen to my vehicle and they will take responsibility of the vehicle. on the 28th September, when i called Mr meyer, I was advised that auto an general wont do anything further. he advised that according to auto magic, the vehicle was damaged previously thetefore the bad workmanship by automagic is legit. I sent letters from a technician from bmw that test drove and inspected the vehicle when i purchased the vehicle. he confirmed that the vehicle was in a perfect condition with all lights working etc. i also provided letter from vishaal from startech panel shop that had installed the new front sports grill and also the front spoiler. he also advised that there was no defects on the vehicle and that all panels were perfectly aligned and lights properly working, but despite all this and a letter From a young lady that had the exact same issues with auto magic and finally her vehicle sent to ross champion panel shop where her car was finally sorted out, but Mr meyer sided with automagic and also cancelled my policy with auto and general without consulting with me. Mr meyer did not acknowledge any of our evidence presented to him. further he instructed i should collect the vehicle. on the afternoon of 28 September 2020, my son and i went toauto magic to fetch my vehicle. to our dismay, the bonnet wont open and close propetly. the petrol cap wont close which was sorted by one of the workers, but the most disgusting and dissapointment was that the vehicle was now dented on the left rear fender and the tail light cracked. i phoned both mr haroun and mr meyer. i showed the damages to Dean. he took us to his computer and showed us photos of the vehicle in the 14 july. i asked to see the photos on his phone as the date will be evident, but he refused and said he no longer has the photos on his phone. but the when we took the vehicle to automagic, the inspection was done on the drive not inside the shop. these photos that dean had was inside the shop. further to this i pointed out to dean the photos that i took on the 11 of September outside Automagic, when the vehicle was on the tow truck. it is clearly evident that there are no damages to the left rear of the vehicle. Mrs cheri leigh from Bmw also sent photos and also confirmed in writing that there were no damages to the back of the vehicle. i sent all these via e mail to Mr meyer. Mr meyer advised that we should take our vehicle which involved paying the excess and signing the documents on which i stated all the faults to my dismay yet again i received an email from mr meyer who again refuted our claim to the damages on the rear of the vehicle of which photos on the 11 September 2020 shows no damges compared to dean from auto magic who states that the vehicle came to the panel shop on the 14 July 2020 with the left rear damage. further to this there is nothing ticked or encircled on his check list. both mr Haroun Mohamed and mr louis meyer treated me like a ********, yet the actual ******** in this is the staff of automagic that constantly **** about all the damages they had done. i advise people not to deal with auto and general as they support the panel shop and not their client in spite of all evidence presented. Furthermore should any one be told to take their vehicle for magor repairs to Automagic in Westmead kzn, please dont. they are a scratch and dent specialist according to the major panel shops. i have all photos and supporting documents to prove that i was totally disadvantaged by both Auto and general and Automagic.
