*********** visa application staff and unreasonable autocratic decision makers or process

We app**** for an Australian visitors visa for 2 weeks visit. We took our documents to the prescribed application processing centre in Durban. The consultant there only took half our available documentation and said that it was all the decision makers required to grant a visa. Our visa's were declined with a pathetic unfounded "standard script" reason written to us in what resembles a "mass email" letter. I never received response to my replies even though they publish this recommendation on their never answered phone message system and "automated" email notification. So I resorted to using a fabulous "repetitive mail resend until I get an answer" system (feel free to use the same free online services in future too) to eventually get a response that pretty much said "we gave you an answer and we do not care if it is unfair, unreasonable, justified or otherwise, and we will not enter into any further communication to investigate your objection or do not intend to rectify any of our failings in delivering a fair assessment of your application. Go away and pay again if you want to take another CHANCE or GAMBLE at about R2500 per appllicant.

Proper and diligent analysis of our finances, assets and situation would have clearly showed we both have the capacity to fund our trip way beyond the requested 2 weeks visa and we have more than substantial reason to return to RSA within this time. Please Australia, you are not the bees knees and not EVERYBODY is trying to defect to you and live on your "social system". Many South Africans have become a valuable and influential contribution to your country and most have just been very happy contributing tourists.

Who wants to visit Australia if this is the first attitude we get from our first point of contact with them? There are many more beautiful, friendlier and cheaper countries to vist. Shall I start naming a few? Look, a country is not defined by the first citizen you meet but the country (its government) should realise that a bad attitude or person in this first contact is not beneficial to their intent to maintain a positive tourist industry. Please do something drastic about this arrogant application attitude and address people as honest people before assuming the worst in everyone due to your own processing failures.

What are you going to do about your application process that changes it from being an outright GAMBLE to being a proper exchange of requirements as EVERY other countries' application system has proved to me to be so far?

I am awaiting response to my emails to them directly at ********** as they never answer my calls. Lets see if this is a national attitude or one single over inflated employees ego.

I have just received an email from the Principal Migration Officer | First Secretary (Immigration and Border Protection), Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Australian High Commission, Pretoria and the email was very polite and well addressed and it was indicated to me that action has been instituted to investigate this matter. I have renewed faith in their management and their intent to be reasonable. I shall await the outcome hereof with eager and positive anticipation.

This matter was addressed by a senior official in the organisation and we were eventually granted visas after me sending them unending automated emails of objection to their decision. Eventually the right person got the message and took appropriate action for which we are thankful. Try followupthen.com for free email scheduling and automation. Its free and it worked for our family.
