Negligence by Bond Cancellation Attorneys Causing Financial Loss
I am posting this to highlight negligence by Austen Smith Inc, who were instructed by Standard Bank to handle the bond cancellation for my previous property. I had no direct engagement or agreement with them. Both the sale of my old property and the purchase of my new property were lodged on the same day. The transfer of my previous property could not proceed because the original title deed was misplaced internally by Austen Smith Inc, which they have admitted in writing. Shockingly, Austen Smith Inc submitted documents to the Deeds Office for lodgement even though they knew the original title deed was missing. The Deeds Office immediately identified the missing deed, causing the transfer to fail and creating months of unnecessary delay. As a result of this negligence, I am now incurring significant financial losses, including: Additional bond instalments Insurance and security costs Re-issued municipal rates All of these costs would not have occurred if the title deed had been properly handled and the old property transferred on time. Despite notifying Austen Smith Inc, no assistance, mitigation, or compensation has been offered. I am seeking accountability and resolution for their admitted administrative error and reckless handling of the title deed
