Required 24-extended warranty was 'miscommunicated'

I was interested in buying a 2017 Kia picanto from this dealership. I was assisted by the salesperson Phetole and I took the car for a test-drive. The car was advertised at R109 999 on the Bidvest website. I asked the salesperson what the additional costs of the vehicle would be and he gave me a figure in the R7000 range. When I showed interest in putting down a holding deposit on the car, I was informed by the salesperson that a 24-month extended warranty was required as per 'dealership requirements', which they could offer for an additional R13 000+. I was shocked by this as I am on a strict budget and had only bargained for admin and on-the-road costs. When querying this 'requirement' with the salesperson, I was told that if I was "not happy" to pay R133 000 for the car (around R23 000 more than advertised), then he would "let it go" to someone else and that this requirement is stipulated in their Ts&Cs - I am yet to receive the link to these Ts&Cs even though I have asked multiple times. When I spoke to the branch manager Dorietha on the phone, she told me that the extended warranty is optional and told me "I am sorry, what else do you want me to say" and then tried to explain to me the benefit of the extended warranty. She did then say that I can have the car if I want (contradicting that it was 'let go') upon which I declined as I felt they did not have my interest in mind, and I had lost all trust for the whole branch. I then asked for the contact details of someone at McCarthy head office and got the contact details of the Divisional executive of Bidvest McCarthy Audi, Phillip. After 6 days, and a reminder, I got a response saying that "Whilst we agree that the manner in which the option of an extended warranty was communicated was not ideal, this product however, offers numerous benefits to yourself as a consumer. We have taken steps to address the matter internally and this example is also being utilised in training and further development of our staff".

I am overall extremely unhappy with this branch and it makes me question how many other people have been through the same as me. The severity of the whole situation does not seem to be understood by any one up the chain of command. I fully understand the concept of an extended warranty, that was never the issue, so stop trying to sell me one. The issues is in how I was told by a person on their sales team, that it was a 'dealership requirement' and that if I could not pay the additional R13 000 that I will lose the car. This was emotionally draining, I took valuable time off work to test-drive this car and had already started moving money, all for a blanket apology. I have lost all trust in this branch and will never even consider buying from this branch.

I have the Whatsapp conversations, voice notes and email correspondence to back up all claims made in this review.
