I took my Audi A4 to get the cam belt replaced after receiving a written quote of R10 000. I get the phone call and the cost is now R18 000. I told the service person that I'm coming to fetch my car to get it done somewhere else. When I get there they tell me that they have found a host of other thing wrong and the cost is R56 000, and that I have to pay an assessment fee before I take my car. This was despite me giving them instructions just to replace the cam belt. I spoke to the manager and he reduced the cost to R13 000 to which I reluctantly agreed. When I picked the car up I was told that there was something wrong with the turbo. I took the car to another auto shop and they found that a vacuum pipe had mysteriously come loose. I sent a review to Audi and later spoke to the manager. I asked him if he thought that my review was unfair, and his reply was 'it is what it is'. This confirmed to me that enethical business practice is part of their business model.
