Exorbitant pricing & Dishonesty

Exorbitant quote received from Audi and VW Auto Clinic in Montague Gardens. The assessment of mechatronics on a DSG gearbox alone was R3 277-50. To repair (not replace) the mechatronics would have been R26 197. Their assessment fee, just by the way, was more than half of the quoted labour cost to repair! To top it off....After receiving the quote I requested to have my vehicle released (even though I had to pay the Exorbitant Assessment fee). Was however told they can only release my vehicle after the weekend, as the gearbox needed to be refitted. I obviously knew they didn't need to remove the gearbox to work on the mechatronics, and went in to see if the gearbox was removed (didn't give the go ahead either). The gearbox was not removed. Misrepresentation of what needed to happen before I could get my car back. I managed to find a highly recommended company who's quote came in under 12k for the same job. Needless to say they don't charge half the amount for assessment or labour costs to repair. The other company also gives a 1 year warranty on work done, and Audi CW Auto Clinic only gives a 6 month warranty.....something else to think about.
