Auctiondirect Vehicle Sales via Facebook Marketplace

AuctionDirect has a professional looking website (www.auctiondirect.co.za) and advertise bank repo vehicles on Facebook Marketplace - very good prices (too good to be true).

Nevertheless, on enquiry against four vehicles, and four different contact persons, it turns out all four operate under the company name of Auction Direct, supposedly offering vehicles for sale prior to sane being placed on auction (the company’s website references SBSA, ABSA, Capitec etc.).

On enquiry as to where any/all the vehicles could be viewed, I was advised that they could be viewed in 1) Heidelberg 2) Nigel 3) Brakpan, and when enquiry of the physical addresses, the details given were proven to not exist.

After placing numerous calls to each ‘seller/agent’ I was advised that I should register via their website to receive a ‘buyers number ‘, for an amount of R5000, or, event better, secure the vehicle I wanted, on payment of R22500 - all without seeing the vehicles and without meeting the ‘sellers’.

This review aims to caution people who come across late model, very low priced vehicles on Facebook Marketplace, where you are requested to call the sellers back (not very chatty on Facebook Messenger), or pointed to the auctiondirect.co.za website to ‘register’ payment.
