Dummy cellphone

Bought a dummy / **** cellphone yesterday. Why would they even allow and not check this type of thing. And having a reserve set of R700 surely they must know a little bit about the item. Yes it was my responsibility to have checked properly but if it was broken thats not a problem. I attend weekly and know the rules but this is b1****. Super angry R1000 in the toilet.
