Bad Service Atterbury Motors

Hello Peter

I bought a vehicle in November 2020 for Atterbury motors CASH!!! There was some faults that needed to be repaired which they agreed upon.

A week later i went and fetched the car and nothing was done. They informed me that they will fetch the car the next week for them to repair the faults.

Nothing happened. We contacted the salesman and he informed us that the upholsterer is closed (December) and that they will fetch the car early January 2021.

We left it there and the last week in January came and nothing yet. We then contacted them again and they agreed to fetch the car. I am so sorry that happened.

Their driver came and fetched the car on 26/01/2021. We live in Dinwiddie and they are in Pretoria.

On his way there he had 17 VIOLATIONS on the road i.e. Speeding, Excessive braking, acceleration ect. After speaking to the Dealer Principal and the salesman (by email), the driver got a mere slap on the hand and was demoted to car washer. Don't know if it is true)

Friday 30/01/2021 the salesman notified us that the car will be finished by Monday 15H00. He will try and bring it through for us after he assured my wife he will drive it back.

So eventually yesterday 03/02/2021 their driver bring the car back. I was totally shocked when i saw my car. Nothing was repaired, they polished the lights and scratched the bumper. Nothing of the other repairs was done. The car was absolutely filthy inside and outside. Children's toys in the car that i do not know where it comes from.

I am absolutely disgusted in them. If you do need correspondence between us as well as photos to proof what has actually happened to this car, please do not hesitate to contact me. I do have all the proof you need.

Good Day Andre

Firstly I want to remind you that the vehicle you purchased is a 2007 model, and will therefore have normal wear & tear that accords with the age and mileage of a vehicle that age. Secondly, I don’t know of a lot of Dealerships that would agree to interior cosmetic repairs of handles and lights, but we are always willing to go the extra mile.
You complained about the handles and the lights that are dull – Nothing else. So we repaired the handles and polished the lights.
Unfortunately, we can’t spend R20K-R30K for new lights and handles at BMW. It is a USED vehicle and not new.
We collected your vehicle in the East Rand and brought it to Pretoria and then delivered it back to you in the East Rand out of Goodwill and not because we had to. Unfortunately, our driver did speed on the highway with your vehicle, but he was reprimanded for that and we already apologised profusely for that as this has never happened before to our knowledge.

As for the toy in the vehicle, it should’ve been in the vehicle when it arrived here by us. We did not remove or place anything in the vehicle when we sent it for repairs.
The vehicle came back 2 days later and it stood on our floor the entire weekend – Nobody used the vehicle. Please refer to your Tracker reports.

Then Sir, to suggest demoting an employee is only a “slap on the hand” is uninformed and malicious. It was the first offence of a very loyal employee. And if you read my mail to you, I stipulated that “the employee is demoted to a Car washer whilst we are busy with the disciplinary process” – This proses takes some time.

Regarding the Bumper, the bumper was like that when we received the vehicle. Do not accuse us of something you cannot prove. That is false allegations.
We are willing to send the vehicle back to our repairer for the handles to see if he can repair it to a better standard. We inspected the vehicle before sending it back to you and it looked 100%. It is possible that the handles could’ve gotten sun damage afterwards.
Alternatively, we will ask our repairer for a refund, and then pay the monies over to you so you can find a repairer of your choice to do it.

Kind Regards/Vriendelike Groete

Clearly the person who wrote this reply do not have a CLUE what is going on.
Whether it is a 2007 or a 2017 model it makes no difference when a agreement was reached regarding repairs in writing (by the salesman), emails, whats'up and phone calls.

Photo's was taken of the vehicle before and after and the bumper definitely did not look like that when the vehicle was fetched from us as we knew this was going to happen.

I do not know who your upholsterer is but you need to find somebody else that is qualified to do the job. I do not know what refund you are going to ask back from your repairer as nothing was done.

And i don't know who inspected the car before you sent it back as you say it looked a 100% which it definitely did not. It was so filthy and dirty. If that is the way that clients vehicles are looked after when on your premise it is a big concern.

As you mentioned you fetched my vehicle out of GOODWILL i would say it is your responsibility since the agreement regarding repairs was not HONOURED!!!
