Avoid dealing with this Agent at all costs!
Homeowners in the Old East of Pretoria- please be aware of an agent from Attache Properties named Amanda Beaurain. Her negligence and gross misconduct as a rental agent is causing us substantial financial loss. She failed to properly vet a potential tenant for our rental property, the result being that we concluded a 3 yr lease agreement with a person who has a ******** record for ***** and assault. When the tenant stopped paying the rent after only 3 months, the above information came to light on something as easy as a Facebook search on the tenant's business. We were also contacted by another agent from a reputable agency that the tenant has been claiming himself as the legal owner of the property and when we discovered this, he immediately cancelled the lease and refused to vacate the property until the end of the month. The agent, Amanda, has provided written evidence that she is siding with this tenant by quoting acts of law that simply do not exist- further strengthening our case that she is grossly negligent and misinformed of the legal background pertaining to rental agreements. She should NOT be operating as an agent! She took a sizeable amount in commission for an entire annual period on the lease, but failed to attend to any of her legal obligations-such as doing an inspection prior to occupation, reacting to complaints from the neighbours as to the barking of the tenant's dogs, and she even refused to go out to the premises when we received word from the neighbours that the tenants were vacating the property earlier than stipulated (most likely in an attempt to flee from their obligations to us in terms of outstanding rental and municipal accounts.) She is also extremely unprofessional and has on several occasions simply hung up the phone on myself and my husband mid-conversation where we were trying to inform her as to the activities of these delinquent tenants. We have requested that she reimburse a portion of the annual commission back to us, pro -rata, but she outright refuses to do so, even though we are in our full rights in terms of the CPA to request as such. We are pursuing legal action and a complaint with the EAAB has been issued, but those routes take time. I just hope she doesn't manage to do the same to other unsuspecting homeowners!
