i own an apartment where Astrodon bills me for my water and sewage. I have never been told the details as to why my water and sewage bill remains at R1500 every month ever since i occupied my flat. When i inquired after a relative who stays in the same building disclosed his bill of roughly the same amount for his flat occupied by more than 4 individuals, the response was that bills are based on the size of the unit not as per usage. This puzzles me as i have never heard such. I am a 59 year old woman who stays alone, i sometimes leave my apartment for over 3 weeks to visit my family yet my bill remains high. This is unjust and action needs to be taken against these people.

09 Aug 2022, 14:31Water is billed on actual consumption and Sewerage based on the municipal charge from the municipality which would be a fixed charge if in COJ and variable based on water consumption if in Ekurhuleni council. Please refer to the BC annual budgets and calculations, approved annually by all owners at the AGM. At no stage does Astrodon calculate any meter charges, the appointed meter readers of the BC reads and calculates the consumption, which has to be recovered from each owner monthly.
In terms of the act, units are billed on the PQ of the unit and not the amount of occupants occupying any unit. Please refer to the various regulations in this regard.
