<p>I have always put forth great efforts to pay my debt each month, but in December 2015 I went through a bit of a crisis. As a Type 1 Diabetic, who was working in the IT industry, my health began to deteriate. In December 2015 I ended up in the ICU for Diabetic Keto-acidosis, which is a very serious condition where the person can go into a coma or organs can fail. I was in the ICU for two days and thereafter in a general ward. During my stay in hospital I decided that the job was not worth my health. Upon my exit from hospital I resigned from my post with immediate effect. This was due to the fact that my attending physician (GP) was on holiday and I could not get a letter in order for the company to bench me i.e. pay me a salary while my health improves and I am once again able to work. The company requested that I work a month's notice, and given my circumstance I could not do that, and had to resign with immediate effect.</p> <p> </p> <p>Now, in my previous position I was using a work cell phone. This work cell phone was removed from my possession upon my termination of contract, leaving me with no phone (my personal phone was broken). Before all this, I had began a course in a different career entirely, which I am now working in. Unfortunately, it took me some time to gain momentum financially and I was unable to make payments for the past six months. I am under debt review but ACS continues to contact me about my Mr. Price account, which stands at a pittance of R900. I informed my Debt Reviewer that I would not be earning for a while as well and as far as I am aware, when one is under debt review creditors are not supposed to contact them. Well, they didn't worry too much about that, and today I recieved an email stating that if I do not pay R500 today they will 'finally' be handing my account over for legal action.</p> <p> </p> <p>ACS, I was not earning any money. I did contact you via email and was ignored. I tried to make an arrangement. I was contacted by one of your agents, who asked me when I would be available. I said to her that I would be available the next Monday. The next Monday nobody called me, then the next day I recieved an email asking when I would be available that day. I was prepared to answer my phone at the time that I said I would be available but nobody contacted me, now I am the one who is in the wrong?</p> <p> </p> <p>Needless to say, I was not earning any money because I was ill. You now want to sue me but guess what? I did not have any money so I could not pay anybody. My wife had to look after me while she was going through a very difficult pregnancy. I would like for someone to contact me and hear me out and actually try and empathise with me. I am not a bad payer, unfortunately I have been through a trying time and could not pay, but I intend to pay religiously from now on, as in the next month. Could someone please contact me or should I take this to every possible public platform that I can?</p> <p> </p> <p>Thank you</p>
