Home improvement went wrong

Accepted a quote for paving my front yard. Paid more than 50% deposit, job was promised to take 2-3 working days. No receipts were given for proof of purchases for materials, the contractor ignored me for two weeks and when I went to police with this as I felt he ran away with my money, he came with the bricks but only half. Dumped it in my drive way and left. Promised to come back same day, and then all of a sudden, pulled out from the job. Has not completed it and its been more than a month. Has not refunded me my money and now I have gone to the court with this as it is not right. Please do not ever use this company. I work in the property industry and work with contractors on a daily basis. This is the worse service I ever got. Very unprofessional and rude.
