****: OVERCHARGED BY THOUSANDS

We made a reservation for a room whose minimum spend is R 3,000.00 and requires a R 1,500.00 reservation fee that would be deducted from the bill on the day. When the bill is presented to us, the minimum spend was met, but to our surprise the reservation fee was not deducted. We were made to pay more that we were supposed to and were later told could not be reimbursed cash but would have to dine at the venue. This seems like a ploy by the restaurant to increase sales by making people pay more or we were simply ******** and had we not been alerted of the overpayment would have lost out on thousands and a waitor possibly claiming thousands in a tip from one group, we are generous but not that generous.

Our questions were simple: why did the bill not indicate that R 1,500.00 has been paid already and only have the total be the difference? Why did the waitor, after we were informed that he was told by the acting Manager that R 1,500.00 should be deducted not do so? Why should we be forced to dine at the establishment when they are at fault?

A warning to anyone planning to make a reservation there, you may need to be on guard.

They have left a bad taste in our mouths, this is by far the worst service I have received.
