***** AND DISHONESTY LEN HUMPHREYS & OLIVIA COMLEY - (ASCOTS) RE: SALE OF VW BEETLE FRV309GP

<p>I bought a VW Beetle FRV 309GP for R25 500 from Len Humphreys & Olivia Conley of Ascots Carpet & Upholstery Cleaners and Guesthouse on 17th May 2016. Offcuts from Ascots Carpets had been used to recarpet the Beetle. There were many lies & ********** misrepresentations told to me & my father, Ken, both verbally and written:-</p> <p> </p> <p>I was advised that the engine had been replaced via an email of 17 May 2016.This was not true as the vehicle broke down on the 20 May at Zeerust i.e. 3 days after purchase. The breakdown was caused by the cylinder heads of which 2 were cracked & 1 was totally defective which had to be replaced.</p> <p><br />Ken was told many lies by Olivia, that she had been driving the car for a long time and how “good it had been” & that it had belonged to a former tenant with rent arrears. I discovered that this was all lies as the former owner had only sold the vehicle recently on 13 April 2016 & he was a director of a media company & certainly not a tenant with rent arrears. The former owner has provided our client with the original dated sale receipt & has been very specific regarding the lies told.</p> <p><br />I was never advised that the vehicle was not in their name but in the previous owner’s name</p> <p><br />I suffered consequential losses due to the breakdown & lies amounting to R31, 222.84.I had to travel from Botswana to collect my dad, pay for a guesthouse for 2 nights, pay a garage to store the vehicle there till the dispute is resolved. The only explanation received from Len & Olivia is that this was a mutual commercial agreement & they deny the allegations.</p> <p> </p> <p>If anyone else has suffered due to lies by Len Humphreys or Olivia Comley, please let me know</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
