RUDE OWNER!!! Terrible phone etiquette
I think Arum Symphony is lovely (having been there before), as long as you’ve never have the displeasure of speaking to Karel, the owner.
All I did was call on Friday to ask if I need to book a table on Saturday to bring my aunt and 88 year old ouma. I spoke to Karel, and he sounded abrupt and rude saying I don’t need to make a booking, but thought maybe he’s just having a bad day. On my way to fetch my ouma on Saturday morning, I phoned to ask if there’d be a table inside, as it was miserable weather and cold and my ouma would get cold. He sounded very annoyed that I called and when I asked if he’s getting irritated, he snapped at me and said YES! Because he’s already booked me a table. When I tried to explain that he told me yesterday he doesn’t book tables, he kept speaking over me, so I put the phone down. He called me back twice - first time I never answered - second time I answered and he tried to have his say AGAIN. I told him if he’s going to be so rude, I’m not interested in bringing my family there. Again he spoke over me, so I put the phone down again and blocked his number. So what was meant to be a lovely morning to a pretty spot, didn’t even happen. I rather went to a place where I know they won’t have a hissy fit, when I ask if we can sit inside.
I really don’t understand why Karel had to be so rude! Arum Symphony is pretty as I’ve been there before, quite a while ago, but I am in no hurry to go somewhere, where I am going to be ill-treated. There was no reason, nor did I deserve to be spoken to the way Karel did! I like to support owner run places, but having been treated so rudely, I would just have indigestion if I had to subject myself to possibly meeting Karel and his negative energy. Word of mouth is your best form of marketing! If you have no telephone etiquette, I suggest you hire someone who does, so you can get new customers....
