The Original Arthur Kaplan will turn in his grave

After buying a GOOD, expensive diving watch about 12 years ago at Arthur Kaplan ...we took the watch back abt 3 times to reset it and replace the batteries during this time, and to set all the stuff for the diving depth, etc. Each time we got a certificate and everything was fine.

The last time we took it back - about a month ago - we had to phone THEM to hear what is the process, what is happening with the watch, how can it take SO LONG to do it? So many excuses, so little care for the client. We paid R180 deposit, and the rest of the R300 to be paid on collection of the watch.

All the previous times, it took about a week, and we got the watch back with no problem. This time we spoke to Adri - this is at the Centurion Branch. The careless way they treat us, is despicable. Also spoke with Jurie (head office).

This morning, they (WOW) phoned us to say the glass needs to be replaced, because it isn't water tight. This watch gets wet EVERY DAY, because it never gets taken off. Swimming, showering, bathing, etc. etc. etc. Never had a problem with water.

Off course - ONLY R400 added to the price for this "SERVICE". Only phones us because they have to add money to the price. The personnel at this branch, is so happy go lucky, they don't even look up from their cell phones when you walk in.

Off course this is a franchise ... so the service is as good as the management. Which says a lot.

We went to collect the watch ... and what do you know, they are NOT going to deduct the deposit from the amount, because THAT is for the new glass they now have to order, which can take up to 8 weeks.

Who on earth is still buying at Arthur Kaplan?

Afternoon Rene,
As discussed on the 5th of May a watch like any other working tool on mechanism it needs periodical maintenance apart from replacing batteries. So in order for any workshop to deliver repaired goods with a warranty addition part would need to be replaced upon the discretion of the relevant workshop.
We take deposits for all repairs and parts or stock ordered for customers.
Sorry to correct you but no Arthur Kaplan branch is a franchise.
Regards,
Ferdinand Changuion
