Excessive noise from party after midnight

On the night of 12 March my wife and I stayed in a self-catering unit about 500m from the hotel, after attending a wedding at a nearby venue. When we turned in around midnight, we became aware of extremely loud music nearby. I went outside and determined that it was coming from the Arniston Hotel. I expected for the noise to stop after midnight as the law prescribes, but by 00:39 I called the hotel. On request, I was transferred to the manager on duty. He promised to ask the sound man to turn it down. Nothing changed. So I called again at 00:48 and again at 01:01. Nothing changed. I measured the noise level outside our front door at 70 decibels! So I called the police in Bredasdorp at 01:18. They had to wait for a van to return from another mission. By 01:36 I called the police again. I apologised, but requested that they do send a van, which they did. The noise went down for a few minutes and then returned in full force. By 03:45 it was still going full blast. There seemed to be no respect for the law or for the poor people coming to Waenhuiskrans to find peace and quiet. We packed up exhausted in the morning. I will definitely not consider staying there again.
