Terrible Aramex experience on easy delivery - don't use them!!!
I sent a courier sleeve overnight delivery from Rosebank (JHB) to Melville (JHB). All of 5 km as the crow flies. I could have delivered this myself given the proximity, but chose to remunerate Aramex to do this for me. What could go wrong after all - surely? On the day the parcel was meant to be delivered I got a message from the client saying when delivery would happen as the contents of the sleeve had to be on a plane that evening to the US. I tracked the parcel and found that it seemed to still be at the JHB depot. I followed up with Aramex, which is no easy feat as you have to deal via a damn chat bot these days. I was told the parcel would only be delivered the next day (too late & not as agreed). I enquired why, now with panic setting in. First Lie: I was told that the address was incomplete. Now, I run an online store, so I am very meticulous when it comes to addresses. I checked the address and took a screen grab of the google map showing the location. I very easily locate-able address on a main road in Melville I may add! Second Lie: I was then told that there was no company name. Well, I told the chat agent, this was because it wasn't a company - it was going to a person. again I checked the details I had. I called the client to verify and proceeded to send a street view of the address showing that it was a clearly signed private residence. Third Lie: I insisted that the parcel be delivered pronto. I was told there were no drivers available and that the parcel would only be delivered the next day. I told the agent that this was not acceptable and that I would personally have to get in the car to deliver the parcel. (let me also make clear that during this conversation the agent when quiet on me - so lengthy waits between messages). I did just that and the order was in my clients hands half an hour later. Along the way I received another message from the agent suddenly offering a after hours delivery. I told teh agent that this was not ok as my client would already be on her way to the airport and that delivery would be too late. I told her the parcel has already been delivered and asked that the shipment be returned to the sender as they had failed to deliver the parcel as agreed. I for the first time received an apology for the inconvenience from the agent. I told the agent that after all the lies I could not accept the apology, but I would accept an apology in the form of a re-reimbur*****t sleeve and raising this with management. This I was assured. A day or two later I received a call from (not management) but a lady from Aramex who seemed clueless as to why she was calling. I recanted the whole story and said I would like the parcel returned with a free sleeve. Today, 4 days after non delivery my parcel has been returned to me. No free sleeve. No call from management. Moral of the story: Save yourself the R99.99 for neighborhood deliveries, Aramex are not capable of such easy deliveries clearly. Don't use these guys as they really mess things up and you have absolutely no recourse. They are unreliable and lie.
