Item lost at Aramex facility in Johannesburg

Aramex South Africa. A "courier service" that should actually not be in business, looking at the largely negative reviews they are getting on Hellopeter.com. Unfortunately, my own experience only supports that statistic. It would seem that many of their victims have had a similar fate. It looks roughly like this:

1. You order an item from abroad or somewhere else.

2. Once you get the tracking number, you find your way to the Aramex South Africa website (Unfortunately).

3. According to the website, your item has arrived at their Johannesburg facility!

2. Now you know that soon your package will be delivered or so you think

3. But weeks go by and still there is no sign of your parcel, but you know that in South Africa things can take a bit longer to get done than usual, so you wait a while longer

4. Eventually you start getting worried so you go back to the website and notice that the status of the item at the Johburg facility has not changed: it's still there, it has not been shipped.

5. You wonder what is wrong, so you ask for information by using the request form on their website

6. You get no reply.

7. You call their branch number, but that number is "unobtainable" (old Telkom term for a number that does not exist).

8. You email them directly on their official emails for customer care as well as their HQ email

9. No reply, no acknowledgement of the emails

10. NOW you turn to Hellopeter.com in desperation.

11. Suddenly you get a response. No clear answer, but at least A response.

12. Then Aramex want you to give them all the information that they are supposed to have anyway, which you give them.

13. When they eventually come back with an answer, it is to report that sorry, the item is gone, lost, not there, misplaced, disappeared or something to that effect, none of which is acceptable of course.

14. Then you get hold of one of the big shots and he wants more info, which they should have but you give it to him anyway.

15. Then there is a deathly silence. No report back, no acknowledgement that yes, indeed they have been ***********, or lax, or just plain useless. Nothing.

16. The end....

17. Now they wait for you to just get tired, give up and go away.

18. I don't think so.

Reviewer Update

Thanks Hellopeter! I have received my parcel at last (3 months late). Aramex eventually found the parcel and delivered it yesterday through DawnWing Couriers. If it weren't for Hellopeter I am 100% sure that I would never have received my parcel. The improved rating is therefore not a direct reflection of the quality of service I received from Aramex, but an indication of their performance if one were using Hellopeter as an ally in the fight for the consumer's rights as well as your own effort to get things done.
