Full Honest Aramex Experience - It was SO BAD

So I [UTA, EC] ordered a computer online at Evetech[PTA, GT] and it was shipped through Aramex and i was expecting it within 6 days of dispatch(23 June, dispatched 17 June) from Evetech.

I received a tracking number and everything seemed fine i got 2 updates - when aramex collected it from Evetech and when it arrived at the JHB,GT sorting facility.

6 Days came and went and it did not arrive and in the first few days after this i was considerate having been warned that there was a possibility of a delay of up to 2 days however even after those two days there was nothing. I then started calling them to check if the tracker was working because the item was still in JHB.

I made multiple calls for 3 weeks since it became late and at the times when i was able to reach them i always got the same story. "It's still in JHB but it should be shipped to East London tonight and then to you within a day after it arrives in EL"

I continued calling and asked one of the agents if i could mark the parcel as urgent and they told me without a hint of sarcasm that they could but "it's probably lost in the JHB facility because it's a mess over there and i don't think anyone's going to care enough to go looking for one parcel in that mess" so i just began feeling hopeless.

I then took to twitter to voice my frustration (because as we all know, brands hate being publicly shamed) and they still ignored me. My entire family went on multiple social media platforms to make some noise about it because this was a high value parcel which could not be easily replaced.

Finally someone a bit higher-up in Aramex noticed me and sent me a direct e-mail. This man goes by the name Andre and he and I began communicating via e-mail starting with my feedback on the service up to that point which was obviously bad. I gave him my information but at that point I was skeptical.

Andre ultimately called me saying that the parcel had been delivered on June 24th. The date was July 20th at the time so i was shocked. I told him no one had even reached our home and we would have known because i have not left the house since before ordering the item. He then told me that he would follow up and have someone from EL reach me.

Someone later called and his name was Siya. Now Siya told me that it was delivered to a street by the same name In East London because - in his words - "My guys told me there was no ***** Street in Umtata"

Now I understand if they thought there was an error but my phone number was attached to the parcel along with a clear instruction to call on delivery yet they did nothing.

Anyway Siya told me they would arrange to have the parcel delivered the next day or the day after (sound fami****?) and granted it did finally but this was on July 21st, three days shy of a month late

My greatest concern with Siya's mismanagement is how could he come o be convinced that i got the street right, but the city AND postal code were wrong? and how could he let the people he is in charge of have the final say in matters so critical as modification to the final destination of a parcel? And most importantly why didn't he do the most simple obvious thing and just CHECK? with me or the senders because he could have.

This was lazy incompetence and I can't imagine what would have happened had we not caused a ruckus and gotten someone sensible - Andre - to intervene.

I give it two stars because even though apathetic, lazy, incompetence as obvious in this ordeal it was also proven that there are diligent people who don't want their company to have as bad a reputaton as it does and they're doing something about it.

P.S.: The tracker still says the parcel is in JHB
