Extremely disappointing experience with Aramex Global Shopper and Aramex South Africa.
I joined AGS specifically to import a non-mechanical textile sporting accessory from the USA — a neoprene sleeve with foam inserts (not a firearm part, not mechanical, not regulated).
The shipment was received at the AGS Florida facility on 24/04/2026 and was incorrectly classified as a “gun accessory” despite their own internal classification reflecting it as a textile item.
Since then, I have spent weeks going back and forth with AGS and Aramex South Africa trying to resolve the issue, with:
delayed responses, poor communication, contradictory feedback, lack of ownership, and virtually no proactive assistance.
At one stage I was even advised that the parcel may be destroyed, and despite all the back-and-forth, the matter is still not resolved. My parcel, valued at approximately R1200.00, remains at risk of being destroyed due to Aramex’s handling of the situation.
I have had to personally coordinate alternative collection arrangements, provide invoices, product descriptions, tracking information, dimensions, and supporting documents repeatedly to different departments, while still struggling to get basic assistance and clear direction. What makes this even more frustrating is that the courier company arranged to collect the parcel from Aramex Global Shopper is Aramex itself — meaning Aramex is apparently able to ship the item without issue, while AGS simultaneously insists it cannot be shipped. The contradiction and lack of internal alignment is extremely concerning.
The level of inefficiency and internal disconnect between AGS Florida and Aramex South Africa has honestly been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have ever dealt with.
Customers should not have to fight this hard to resolve a simple shipment issue, especially after paying for a subscription service specifically intended to simplify international shipping.
Very disappointing experience overall.
