Aramex is NOT the company you should use if you need effective courier service

A company arranged with Aramex to pick up an important document from me. Aramex did not contact me by phone, email, or SMS (the commissioning company told me that they will come on Tuesday). I waited until 13h15 and then had to leave to pick people up at the airport. While there, I got a missed call and phoned back. It was the courier - I made an arrangement to be at home at 16h00 for the pickup and he said it is OK. Again there was complete silence and absence from Aramex. At 16h20 I phoned the courier again to find out what happened. He said he decided to come another time, which means that the document was not picked up. In spite of explaining the importance of the situation to the courier and later to the Johannesburg office of Aramex, not the slightest assistance or understanding was forthcoming. I also found the person at the switchboard very rude and unprofessional. The end of the story was that I had to test the speed limit to get to a courier before 17h00 to get the document sent by another courier company (without any problems this time). Based on my experience: I will absolutely NOT recommend this company at all, based on a) not having any interest in making or keeping appointments; b) not showing any effort to help to solve this problem and deliver the service they were contracted for in time; c) not trying to resolve the problem but rather use lies to get out of the predicament- I was promised twice by the courier that the manager will phone me to make arrangements - something that did not happen. Therefore: stay away from this company if you are looking for responsible delivery, honesty, and good service.
