Aramex ***** and Slander
On the 2nd of September 2020, I purchased 2 Aramex courier bags at Pick 'n Pay Irene Mall. I filled the packages in the store with the goods that needed to be sent to my customers and dropped it in the box at the above Pick 'n Pay. One package contained 3 pieces of clothing, 7 bottles of essential oils and 6 packets of sweets and the other packages contained 3 bottles of essential oils and 9 packets of sweets. On Monday the 7th of September 2020 at 11:37, I phoned Aramex regarding my packages, since it wasn't delivered yet, and according to their waybill, the packages was supposed to be delivered before 12:00 the following day. I got told that my packages was seized for ******* substances by the Police, who sends their K9 unit on a daily basis to check the outgoing packages for drugs and other dangerous substances. Upon requiring what I should do to get the packages back, I was told that I should go to the Silverton Police Station, as they the ones who seized my packages. On Monday afternoon I went to Silverton Police Station to collect my packages, where they told me that they do not know anything about such packages and that I needed to go to the K9 unit to find it. I then traveled to the K9 unit where Capt. Scholtz told me that they do not even have enough manpower at the unit to go to private companies on a daily basis. He proceeded to check his registers for the officers on duty on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of September 2020, just to be sure that they weren't called out to Aramex's premises. He found no evidence that anyone of the K9 unit ever went to the above premises. He then advised us to go back to Silverton Police Station and ask to see the 13th register to see if any packages was booked. He furthermore advised us to get a copy of the toxicity report for the alleged ******* substances found. On Tuesday morning I went to Silverton Police Station and asked to see if my packages was entered into the 13th Register. The officer confirmed that no such packages was handed in from the 2nd of September 2020 to the 5th of September 2020. I then drove to Aramex Pretoria Branch to find out what was happening, since the story the customer service lady told me, was clearly a lie. Mr Raj introduced himself as the regional operational officer and that he will assist us in this matter. He told us that the K9 unit from Customs was the ones that search the packages daily and that the lady from customer service has given me the wrong information. He also confirmed that the german shepherd positively reacted to my packages for ******* substances. He furthermore told us that he personally saw the video footage that showed the essential oils being tested positive for heroin and that I now was a suspect for drug trafficking and was under investigation from Customs. He also repeatedly told us to not make serious allegations against the company. He then told us that he will personally take charge of the situation with my packages and that he will try to get my packages back for me, but he cannot guarantee that I will not get the oils back, since it contained narcotics. At 11:52 on Monday, 7 September 2020, Mr Raj phoned me and told me that they are retrieving my packages IN FULL from customs and that it would be delivered to my house on the same day. He told me that I was flagged in their system and that I was not allowed to sent any of my essential oil products with Aramex again, and that if I do so I would be apprehended as a drug dealer. I was also told to speak to Ruan at the Pretoria branch, as he was the operational manager at this branch. At 18:53 on Monday, 7th of September 2020, I received a call from Zodia, whom I presumed was the Night Shift Manager at Aramex Pretoria. She wanted to know whether my packages should be forwarded to the initial destinations, or be sent back to me. While explaining to me who she was and why she was phoning, she mentioned that my packages was opened and customs was called in and that customs COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG with the packages. And that my packages was on their floor the entire time. I asked her to please send the packages back to me and thanked her for her honesty. At the time of this review 10:56, the 9th of September 2020, I have not received my packages yet. I have tried to contact Aramex Pretoria and the receptionist only puts me through to an extension that keeps on ringing. No one is willing to talk to me.
