Abandoned delivery

Aramex is a global courier service company. I have had predictable, good service from them in the UAE. However, while visiting South Africa, the tracking on the app was not updated regularly and while waiting for the delivery, the status suddenly changed to Customer not available. I changed my plans to ensure I was at home to receive the delivery. A delivery company who makes no attempt to call and confirm if you are actually at the delivery address but prefers to say the customer was unavailable and make an additional trip on another day really frustrates me. Why is it so difficult for some people/companies to provide decent service in SA. Some companies get it right. As a global company, Aramex should have the same standards wherever they deliver.
