35% tax on a phone?? Customer service non-existent

After my phone being in customs for over a week, I got a customs invoice of R1407.64 for a phone I paid less than R4000 for. I tried phoning Aramex, but not a single department answers their phones and you are at the mercy of someone replying to an email. I have no idea how 35% tax is considered acceptable and I am utterly disgusted with the pathetic service from Aramex. Not planning on using their services ever again in the future.
