This company used an outsource recruiter named Motiv recruitment to fill a sales position for their coffee range. Motiv's website www.motiv.co.za lists the following core values: professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and relationship. The irony is that Professionalism and Integrity is listed first yet my recent first and last experience with them entailed ZERO PROFESSIONALISM and integrity. In March I was contacted by Jolyn (the managing director) about a Sales position for Aquazania in Epping. Everything sounded good and I agreed to do an interview. She also needed me to fill out forms detailing my past work experience, previous salary, ID number, references etc. I emailed the completed forms and went for the interview which went well. Darren at Aquazania Premium Water interviewed me and said that he needs someone to start immediately and he even introduced me to the person that would be training me when I start. Jolyn then dragged this entire process out until the end of April when I should have been given a clear answer within days of doing the interview. Gambling with people's futures in today's economic times and just in general is truly insensitive and shows bad recruitment practice in general. Throughout March until the end of April she would say that she would contact me on this day and that time and it never happened. To the point where I would have to contact Darren directly which he didn't seem to mind at all as he was quite engaging and asked me other questions. Never once said to me that I should only deal with the recruiter. Eventually; three days ago Jolyn contacted me in the morning to say that I have been successful and that Darren is putting together an offer to email her by lunch time, and she will then email it to me. I was of course very happy to hear this and I thanked her. Later that day around 4pm, she asked me for more references to contact. Like WHAT? are you for real? WHY are you asking me on the last minute when you had to do YOUR JOB and YOUR DUE DILIGENCE prior to any discussions about an offer/contract. What kind of recruiter doesn't contact references in the beginning in order to make an informed decision?! I then gave her another two references and she then phones me to say that Darren has retracted the offer. She also said she could not get hold of the references. When I asked why, she said that Darren said it's not the right time as he has too much going on. I couldn't believe my ears. She then had the audacity to ask me to email her my written references if I have any. I have screenshots and recordings of all conversations. I felt obligated to write this review in case someone out there is ever contacted by Motiv recruitment or has an interview with Darren (the MD/CEO). This can spare you an horrific, unprofessional and grossly *********** experience with both companies. Motiv needs to change their slogan as well. Be careful guys
