Bad management, bad choices

A booking was made more than a month ago for a group of elderly ladies (8) ranging from early seventies to late 80s, in various stages of health: cancer treatment, bad lungs, sore backs etc - the lunch they look forward to once a month to meet. The booking was confirmed indoors, and confirmed a week ago. When the group arrived (booking for 12.30) they were told the restaurant inside was fully booked with 25 persons, and they would have to sit outside. Extra jackets were fished out of car boots, but they sat shivering under the shade of a tree in the cold wind, and despite the gallant effort of a very nice waiter called Dirk, who sat with the fan full of spaghetti, and even a free glass of sherry, the whole day was a disappointment, and the lunch was only over at 3. I can only assume a better offer came up (a group of 25 and more money) to take up that indoor space, and a decision was made by the management, to shove the old ladies outside. It really leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
