WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. WORST SERVICE EVER
I had an issue with my Mac book so I took it into the Genius Bar to be 'fixed' the genius staff took the MacBook out the back and brought it back instantly without it being a part and said there was no issues inside despite the Mac system saying there was. I was told it was a battery issue so I was given a new charger. A month or two later I took it in again and was given another new charger and no explanation as to why the Macs batter wasn't detected and wouldn't work without it being plugged in 24/7. I then took it in a third time and this member of staff took the Mac out the back and brought it back to show me the insides. The battery was leaking and had completely corroded whole board inside. (This could have been prevented if the first person I spoke to had done this to start with.
I was then told it would be around £1,500 for the repair that it needed and I was best of just buying a new MacBook which is not what I wanted to do. I then requested to escalate this as it was an issue that could have been resolved if the staff had done what they needed to do the first time and actually looked into the Mac itself.
I received an apology by the manager who told me I would be better off buying a new Mac than getting the repair. I wanted to take this further so the manger offered me a discount on a MacBook. This was agreed that the laptop would be £1,399.20 with a 24 month contract and a 14.9% interest rate. I agreed to this and was accepted through the Barclays partner finance app that the manager went through with me. However their systems weren't allowing anything to go through Barclays so I was sat waiting around for 2hours to be asked to come back the next day.
I went back the next day and the system was down still so I had to sit about for another 2 hours. At this point the manager offered me a case for the laptop free of charge. I sat for another hour with still no progress so I requested that it be stopped as I no longer wanted the Mac due to the wait. The manager then offered me another deal in which the interest rate would be dropped.
I was told that the Mac would be £1399.20 and there would be no interest. I agreed to this and agreed to wait a bit longer. The manager then came over and explained that it had finally went through however it would show as a 24 month contract but it would be around a 20 month contract instead as they would be taking care of the interest. He explained that I would be paying £67.16 a month until the £1399.20 was paid. This was what I had agreed to.
With that I received my receipt which stated the price would be £1399.20 and I received my paper work from Barclays parter finance which has a total balance of £1399.20 to repay and absolutely no mention of interest.
Skip forward to now. The full £1399.20 has been repaid as well as more and they are charging me interest.
Spoke to Barclays and because it is an apple mistake they can't do anything about it as they didn't receive anything from apple to state interest won't be charged.
With this being an in store issue it is in store who need to resolve this however due to covid restrictions the store is closed. I tried to call the store numerous times and got no answer so rang the customer service line.
Spoke to a lady who explained there was nothing they can do as it was an in store issue but with me not being able to get in any form of contact with the store she agreed to escalate the case as I requested.
Spoke to a second agent who advised that he can see what he can do, took all the information etc to then say that apple have no procedures in place to deal with in store issues due to the COVID restrictions so I would need to wait until 'soon' at a financial expense to me until the store reopens and I can deal with this in store. I advised that the complaints get closed within a certain time frame so I wouldn't be able to escalate this again in which he advised I have a month. If the store is not open within a month I have lost out on £250 which I should not be paying. This agent refused to accept this. I requested to go through to customer relations and was refused multiple times to then be given abuse off the agent, being spoke over and told "you are in complete denial you can not speak to customer relations" and then hung up on.
I will be seeking legal advise, passing this onto the ombudsman and taking it to small claims court.
Every time I get any apple products i always end up being miss sold, **** to and left to deal with it by myself with no help from customer service. They let me leave the store with a battery that was leaking due to water damage on the Mac and slowly corroding the inside of the Mac which could have caused an injury or anything as it was having to be plugged in to be used then I'm being told I need to pay an extra £250 due to their mistake.
