Recurring iPhone Hardware Failure and Lack of Support

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding a serious and recurring issue I have experienced with my iPhone, and the lack of support provided in resolving it. This is now the second time I have experienced the same fault with an Apple device. On 15 December 2025, my iPhone suddenly displayed “No Service” and stopped connecting to any mobile network. The issue occurred without warning and without any damage, misuse, or water exposure. I initially took the device to Apple, where I was advised that the problem was related to my network provider. Vodacom subsequently issued me with a new SIM card; however, this did not resolve the issue. Due to Apple’s appointment calendar being fully booked throughout December, I was unable to secure a follow-up appointment and had no option but to wait until the new year. As a result, I spent the entire December and January with a phone that only functioned in Wi-Fi areas. During this period, I could not make or receive calls, receive SMS messages, or be contacted unless I had Wi-Fi access. On 1 February 2026, I finally attended an Apple appointment, where I was informed that: • My two-year warranty expired on 25 November 2025 • The device has an internal hardware failure preventing it from detecting network towers • I would need to pay over R8,000 for the repair

I would understand this cost if the device had been physically damaged or misused. However, this is clearly a technical hardware failure, and it is extremely concerning that this identical issue has now occurred for the second time with an Apple device. I strongly believe Apple should take responsibility for this defect, particularly given that: • The issue occurred shortly after the warranty expired • I attempted to resolve the problem in December but was unable to secure an appointment • The failure is technical in nature and not caused by user damage • This is the second time since using iPhone products that this has happened to me. I am now left with an expensive device that is essentially unusable, and I simply cannot afford to pay R8,000 for a fault that is not of my making. I am deeply disappointed by this experience and respectfully request that Apple review this matter and provide a fair and reasonable resolution.
