Poor service

My ipad was disabled by my daughter however we managed to enable it through appple support. but now i just realized that my ex colleague when he was setting ip up for me he used his own details as an apple ID. Now i cant use the Ipad and i have the box and proof of purchase for this device but they telling me that they cannot assist. I dont have the details of the person who was setting it up for me so what needs to happen does that mean i have to just throw away the device because apple cant wipe out the device so i can use my own apple ID.
