Poor quality products

I bought an Apple watch October 2019, Novemeber 2020 the watch stopped charging as it normally would. I sent it to the store they sent me back home saying nothing was wrong with it. I went in a week later because the watch was now refusing to pair, I got a call stating i had to pay R3954 which is equivalent to a brand new watch. Am I expected to pay R4000 for a watch to only work for a year? What happens now?
