iPad air in recovery mode loop

My iPad air went into recovery mode after I want to upgrade to the latest IOS version. Tried all suggested procedures but cannot get it out of recovery mode. Took it to iStore in Centurion. They could not reset it so they escalated the problem to Apple. The feedback I received was that they cannot reset the unit for me due to it being out of warranty. Bought the iPad in Jan 2014. I do understand the out of warranty but do expect Apple to reset it for me as it was because of their upgrade's it went into the recovery mode. I tried calling the escalation call desk to discuss this with them but to no avail - no answer.<br>
