Inferior product and terrible service :(
Hi!
I recently bought a top off the range Macbook Pro 15 inch from the V&A Waterfront store which has put quite a dent in my pocket. As a result I would expect superior quality and service as an Apple Customer.
The first woe I am having is that the keyboard keys are sticking, after some research I have realised this is a known problem with the model I purchased. I had also purchased a third party product from the store, a Hyperdrive to extend the functionality of my Macbook Pro. This product seems to be damaging two of the 4 available ports. Lastly...the SSD hard drive also appears to be get to hot, on occasions to the limits of its normal operating temperatures.
To sum up the issues I am experiencing from a supposedly high end professional piece of equipment... I am a Software Developer and I require a laptop that can offer quality and performance not a laptop which I cannot type without error, ports that are so sensitive that if a colleague bumps my desk I land up with my screens and devices disconnecting and resulting in my data being *******ed as well as having to worry about my machine near the point of overheating. These are the issues I am experiencing with the product.
The Apple support is just as disappointing, I tried to contact the store where I purchased from, I landed up at a call centre where the was no human support and the only option was to go to the website and add a support ticket. This has been done and it has been about two months with no answer as yet. After a month I decided to take some time out of my day to go to the store and seek assistance. At this stage I was very unsatisfied and spoke with the store manager explaining the problems I have been having as well as the terrible service so far.
The manager could not provide me with any means to officially voice my grievances. I was not offered a date to book in my Macbook Pro with one of their technicians or a temporary laptop as my Macbook Pro is critical to me being able to work and earn my salary.
I did however get a mail about two weeks later stating that they support team would be getting in touch as to when they would be in a position to assist, this has not happened as yet and I fear I will be stuck in limbo with no assistance and using a inferior product that is making my professional day to day experiences unbearable.
What lengths does a customer have to go to to get satisfactory service?
